There Are Many Pressing Needs To Be Met

In a Third World country such as Kenya the needs are colossal.  With the limited resources that we possess as a Charity, the tension is between stepping in to meet the evident needs of our brethren, and the danger of cultivating a dependency on outside sources that is unhealthy.  In order to focus the use of our funds sensibly, we limit ourselves to those who are church members, and prioritise the recognized leaders and the disadvantaged.

The two areas where we help on a regular basis are with educational fees, and medical support.  Secondary and tertiary education is fee paying and without help many children will never be able to be educated, and so will miss out on opportunities for paid employment.  In Pokot North the nearest hospital with professional services is up to 80 miles away in Kapenguria.  Apart from the transport costs, treatment and medicines can be very costly.

In addition, we are made aware of times when pressing needs across whole communities are most acute, for example when there is prolonged drought or political turmoil. At such times we are in a position to make those needs known and give opportunity for special, one-off contributions to assist our brethren in their distress.
