Let us tell you who we are.
TRAIN(Kenya) is a registered charity set up to help the work of churches in Kenya who are part of RBAK, and their associated sponsored schools.
We let you know what is happening and the future plans and needs of the church groups and their members that we work with so you can pray for them.
We also want to raise funds to support the ongoing needs and specific new projects that arise. An example of a new project is the setting up of a new girls secondary school at Kamketo in Pokot North which opened in January 2015.
The main areas where we offer our support are rural, and in particular the remote Rendille and Pokot North parts of northern Kenya, which are both very dry with very few modern facilities, but we do support work throughout Kenya.
There are regular newsletters and we can arrange for them to be emailed to you.
Any donations that you make will be much appreciated, as they will be used to develop the work that we are involved in.
Some of the regular funding we receive is specified for particular needs such as support for those who are church leaders and payment of teachers’ salaries in the schools that are sponsored. Occasionally a special need is made known and we receive donations towards those. Unspecified giving is directed towards needs that are current at the time and is done in consultation with the brethren we know and work with.
We are unable to offer financial support for unsolicited requests.

TRAIN(Kenya) started with 5 trustees, who are Geoff Thomas (Chairman) – Alfred Place Baptist Church, Aberystwyth; Cliff Barton (Secretary) – Belvidere Road Church, Liverpool; Oliver Allmand-Smith – Trinity Grace Church, Ramsbottom; John Pascoe – Pains Hill Chapel, near Oxted, Surrey; and Chris Watts – New Milton Evangelical Free Church.
We have been joined by David Smalley, from Hull (November 2017), and since November 2018 by Keith Underhill, now that he is living in England and has retired from the church in Nairobi. John Pascoe and Chris Watts have since stepped down and we thank them for the contributions they have both made to the charity since its inception.
